My name is Carrie Matson. I am a 32 year old adoptive mom-to-be to a baby girl in China. We have chosen the name Ruby (red is a symbol of good luck and celebration in China and the "no place like home" factor of ruby slippers-hence my banner) Claire (my Mom's name). This blog is intended for Ruby,so she can look back and see how we occupied our time while we waited for her,and to show all aspects of her mother's personality.I have been married for five years to my best friend and husband, Ron. I am a part-time pre-school teacher,I stopped working full-time to be able to spend special time with Ron before we are parents, though we never thought it would be SO much time, due to the constant lengthening of the process. Ron is an eco-friendly focused architect. We both try to live as green as comfortably possible. We are not extremists but are always searching for little ways to make a difference. I paint paintings that are inspired by fabrics that I love, and vintage wallpaper. I enjoy sewing cute little things, and crafting with organic materials-reclaimed textiles-and Liberty of London fabrics. I am currently learning to play the violin, use a sewing machine, and knit, so that I can share these things with Ruby.I am working on an Etsy shop in which I will sell my paintings and cute little things.
