Geeta Has Done it Again!

Geeta_som_2

Another splendid design listed on ebay by my uber-talented friend,Geeta! Geeta was inspired by her and her daughter's love of The Sound Of Music for this design. Growing up,my whole family(minus my Dad) would watch The Sound Of Music at Easter time(this was before VCR's and DVD players-or before we had one anyway, and that's when it aired on television each year!).I love the sweet colors of pale lavender and blue.

Ruby's First Shoes

No! You do not have double-vision! Unlike my blog banner with handstitched "shoes",this is a picture of actual baby shoes! And a really great find: New "old stock" baby maryjanes from the 1950's,how perfect for our little Ruby Claire! They are so tiny they could quite possibly be her first "real" shoes.....

In Her Shoes

Dear Ruby Claire,

Shoes are such a personal article of clothing, sometimes symbolizing something extremely sad, sometimes symbolizing living happily ever after. The ruby slippers,as depicted in my blog banner, symbolized finding home. Tears come to my eyes as I look at the picture of our shoes, all in a row, because when this is a familiar sight in our house, you will have come home.

Love,

Mom

When I started this blog,I thought I would talk more about children's fashion, something I am interested in,but soon realized that it was not something I wanted to dwell on. Since this is a post about shoes,I must show these amazing Liberty baby shoes from Petites Maloles that even come in an adorable drawstring bag:

Beatrix

I was lucky to receive a whole wardrobe of adorable clothing for Ruby, from our wonderful cousins who have two beautiful daughters. The clothes are lovely the way they are,but I decided to add some personal touches to some of the clothing. I sewed this horse applique onto this pink gingham dress, using felt and material from vintage pillowcases. The gorgeous heart quilt it is laying on was made by my very talented mother-in-law! And in case you're wondering-No-I don't believe in ironing!

Heavenly clothes for heavenly girls, this is the motto of my friend Geeta Patel's Babette! line that she sells through ebay. She makes custom leather shoes and hair clips, and sews one of a kind confections for tiny girls to wear for portraits, birthday parties, or any other time that a special outfit is desired. Many women sell their handmade creations on ebay, but Geeta's work is in a league of it's own. Ebay buyers spend staggering amounts of money on overdone ensembles that are plagued with frills, ruffles, and print upon print. Babette! is sophisticated yet still playful enough not to be mini-women's wear. She believes that all little girls are beautiful and that beauty should be accented, not covered up. I couldn't agree more. Her new listings, Tattered Beauty, can be found on ebay by searching theblossoms.
